holistic health care for women with cancer

As a person who has had breast cancer and has been personally transformed by the experience, I’ve always felt like I would come to support the women moving through cancer diagnoses, treatment and back to good health (whatever this means for them) or transitioning over (I won’t shy away from all possibilities with a cancer diagnosis). I meet people where they are, in all of their emotions, physical challenges and existential highs and lows. This is the gift of being given a breast cancer diagnosis at 34 with 3 year old and 4 month old daughters (along with trauma and challenges from my childhood). I hold the capacity to help others on their own path as they navigate the medical system (or not if that’s your choice), physical changes, mental talk that won’t quit and how a person with cancer must face themselves in ways that others in their lives cannot even fathom.

From this lived experience and after my years of study to become a natural health practitioner plus my clinical practice to date, my desire and mission is to support other women navigating this challenging time, with the same love and care that was offered to me by numerous holistic and conventional health practitioners, over many years, during and after my own cancer treatment.

My question for you is, how may I be of support? Are you in need of:

  1. nervous system regulation: deeper sleep, increased feelings of calm, softening of tension in the body from carrying so much

  2. to become more in tune with your body so you can respond to the messages it is consistently sending you

  3. support with diet and lifestyle shifts

  4. treatment that will help with the side effects of conventional treatment

  5. a kind and caring heart of deep knowing of what it is you are moving through

  6. to feel less lonely on this journey for 1

As I am a holistic practitioner with multi-modalities in my toolkit, I am able to build a treatment plan around you, depending on your needs in the moment. We do this in a way that does not interfere or is contraindicated with conventional cancer treatment.

With Spinal Flow we support the nervous system to drop out of fight/flight/freeze/fawn (sympathetic dominance) and soften into rest & digest (parasympathetic mode). Just this alone may have profound effects on how you move through each minute, hour, day. Spinal flow includes gentle physical touch on the sacrum and cranium, connecting directly into your nervous system, and in this process is reminding the body of it’s own innate healing capacity while also removing layers of chemical, physical and emotional stress from the body.

With flower essences, the high energetic frequency of the flower helps to shift long held patterns within our energy body and physical body towards a higher frequency. You may think that this sounds kind of woo woo but if you think about quantum physics and how we are in fact all energy (everything is essentially), then it is just different energy fields interacting with and supporting each other in times of need).

With herbs, we can support multiple systems within the body simultaneously and, as I said above, very carefully so as not to interfere with conventional cancer treatment. Herbs can also be taken in tea form, rather than potent tincture form, and still be beneficial in supporting nausea, digestive discomforts, mouth ulcers, increased anxiety, immune related challenges plus more.

Support to shift diet and lifestyle can be incremental over time, depending on stage of treatment and overall energy and capacity to step into such changes. I do recommend these changes be long term and a new way of living, rather than short term. Understandably, these changes can feel very difficult in light of the news of a cancer diagnosis or during some parts of the treatment when side effects feel all consuming. Sometimes baby steps are the best steps at these times.

Nature connection and somatic movement are wonderful tools to come into the body and in touch with something greater than ourselves. Feeling awe inspired during times of shock, unease and massive change can be so healing to our whole being. Of course, if anything ever feels too much and too overwhelming, then we always have our breath in every moment to come back to. We can work together with nature connection and somatic movement or I can guide you towards some ways to bring this into your life. Either way, do not dismiss the power of these two elements on your path back to yourself and good health.

Finally, please know that if there is any time where I feel the need to refer you onto another health professional, to support areas of health that are not within my scope of practice, then I have access to a wealth of practitioners who I have either trusted with my own health, who are amazing colleagues or who come highly recommended by others. It is important to have a solid and caring team behind a person who has been given a cancer diagnosis. I would love to be part of that team for you.

Please explore my website to find out more about me or get in touch to organise a free 15 minute chat on the phone to see how I may be able to support you. I live and work in the Samford area, just north of Brisbane (only 35-45 minutes drive into the mountains from the city) but for some aspects of treatment I am also available via Telehealth.
